I hate running. I think. Yet I continue to press on. Who knows why.
I guess I hate running immediately before the run and during the first, oh, 8/10th’s of the run itself. I love running after the fact. I love running when I don’t have to run. I love running when all I have to do is talk about running or think about how awesome running is. Don’t pretend you don’t feel the same way. What keeps us coming back? Seriously.
I’m wicked slow again. During training I worked so hard to get my pace down to something even reasonably acceptable and now I’m back to the whole “I’m a slow JOGGER” stage.
I’m back on Daily Mile as well, Greta the Garmin and I finally worked out our differences with her ANT stick (I can see where she was coming from, who wants to take orders from a damn stick?) and now we’ve discovered how to properly upload from Garmin Connect to DM.
I know I keep teasing you with this new blog, but really I am working on it. The logistics of a new, well managed blog is just mind boggling. It takes so much time to change the color of the font when you’re dealing with CSS. Yep, I’m actually building a blog from the ground up, no blogger templates here folks, this bitch means biz-nass.
Also, you may have noticed that I enabled “word verification” and comment approvals because I’m getting a lot of asian porn spam in my comments. I don’t know why, it may have something to do with the fact that I keep using the words “porn” and “spam” in my blog posts, I’m just sayin’. So if you think that maybe, just maybe, Rachael likes to look at big boobies in her spare time, go ahead and waste your time linking a million little dots to my post.

Who am I kidding?

Yep, you just described me lol. If I think about running too much, especially if its a long run, my brain does funny things and makes me not want to do it and/or doubt my abilities.
However, AFTER I finish a run I freakin love it :)
I think as running gets easier these feeling go away. At least that's my hope or else I'm screwed.
p.s., I've been getting a lot of asian comments too but I don't know what they are saying because it's written in chinese or something.
A few things...
1. I hate running too, unless it's in a race. I don't really like running when I have to just go run but I love racing, probably because there's lots of other people suffering along with me :)
2. your hatred of running better not mean you're not gonna do Vegas, because I'm like 97% sure that I'm doing it now!!!!!
3. I know what you mean about building a blog...done that before. CSS and HTML kind of suck :-/ good luck lol
4. I love that your Garmin's name is Greta.. mine is named Gertie, short for Gertrude. I'm glad I'm not the only one who named mine:)
5. Ok i think that's all. Can't wait to see your new blog!
I hear 'ya. I just started running back in May. I admitted from the start to myself and anyone who's asked that I don't love running, just like I don't like scrubbing my toilet. But I do it because I don't want my thighs to rub together/shit stuck to my toilet bowl. Wanting to is not a prerequisite.
I think that's part of the trick. Just make your peace with the fact that it sucks.
Porn. Spam. If I had Chinese characters on my keyboard I would so be putting them in this comment.
Same here!!! Earlier this year, I started running and trained for a half marathon in late April, but since then it's been very light. I don't hate it the entire time, but just like you said- those specific times!!
I love being able to talk about it, just not doing it!
sometimes the thought of the feeling i have after the run is enough to get me out the door and going...i've never gotten to the end of a run and said to myself "that was horrible"...
It's nice to know we're all in the same boat here. It's funny because last year I didn't mind running so much. I even looked forward to runs and enjoyed it while I was out there. NOW however, I feel exactly like you...dread it all day/night before, hate it 8/10ths of the way, and love it when I'm done (and when I talk about it to others haha!) I'm blaming it on this summer which has been redonkulously hot and humid for typical Milwaukee. It sucks though because there WAS a time when I liked to run. What happened?!?!?
I just came across your blog, and I love it! You have a wonderfully witty writing style!
Right now I hate running because I'm in the middle of a move, so I hate everything. I also hate running because it is too hot and humid here to want to do anything but lounge in or by a pool. And, sadly, it won't be much less hot or humid where I'm moving to either.
Amen to that! I hate running also but have only been doing it for a week. :) Just found this blog and love it!
Yeah, someone in blog land like me, who calls a spade a bloody shovel, cusses and has foot in mouth disease.
yesyesyes
thats me as well.
Im working to DO and never ever THINK.
when it comes to running anyway :)
